How Sedentary Lifestyle, Stress & Irregular Sleep Patterns Have Become Primary Reasons Of Increased Heart Attacks In Youngsters

In today’s life it’s not very shocking if we hear or read news like “A 26 years old person died because of heart-attack”, but do you all really think its normal?? Well, the answer is “NO”, its not. A 25-26 years old person is very young to get any disease but all thanks to our lifestyle, stress and irregular sleeping patterns which contributes to the factors affecting our whole body or you can say our health. Recently, Siddharth Shukla a famous television actor passed away because of heart attack. So let’s see some of the contributing factors about the same.

Sedentary lifestyle simply means when we are not doing regular physical activities like exercises, walking, movement, etc. Here we are not talking about those exercises which could only be done in gyms, simple exercises like walking, using stairs in place of lifts, doing household activities like mopping, in every 30 mins stand up from your office seats and take a small round in the office, can also help. Less of movements/exercises contributes to developing plaques in arteries which causes blockage and it simple to leads to heart attack. But one thing you all should remember that it’s not a 1–2-day bad habits, it’s something gets worse when you are doing this kind of things for over years. So, following a proper movement routine can help you to get away from heart attacks.

Next factor is “Stress”, stress and anxiety has always been linked to cardiovascular diseases, whenever a person is in stress for a longer time than usual, they produce a hormone called cortisol in more amount which contributes to risk of high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, high triglycerides, which ultimately leads to heart related ailments. Youngsters are facing different types of stress related to job performance, maintain standard lifestyle, peer pressure - which often led to junk food, drinking, smoking, etc., it causes stress on the heart, leading to either heart attack, or other heart ailments. So, for stress management one should start with simple breathing exercises like anulom-vilom, or meditation, or listening to some calm music daily for at least 15-20 minutes.

Last is Sleeping pattern, “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”.

So, this was something, which we used to recite in childhood days, but if now we read it carefully, this short quote has everything related to our good health. Many studies have shown that irregular sleep patterns can cause or contribute to heart related diseases. Irregular sleep patterns are those which has no regular sleeping/bedtime and wake up schedule.

Irregular sleep/poor sleep habit affects health related issues like changes in blood sugar and inflammation. So, it is recommended that one should have at least 7-8 hours of sound sleep.

Regular sleeping habits also prevents type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure and depression. If one is not taking proper sleep it leads to affect the body’s circadian rhythm or sleep cycle, which affects gut microbiome, and if gut health is affected then it will affect overall health.

Apart from these 3 factors everyone should also make a habit of eating a healthy diet which contains more of plant based whole food diet, and junk and processed food should be avoided.
