Anxiety In Infected People Was Almost 2 Times More In 1st Covid Wave: Study

Almost three years have passed since the first case of coronavirus. A research has been done regarding covid and mental health. It has been told that the symptoms of anxiety were almost 2 times more in people who were infected during the first wave of covid, 13 months after the infection.

UK researchers have done a research on more than three thousand people which is led by Professor Daryl O'Connor and Dr Sarah Wilding from the School of Psychology at the University of Leeds. According to research, the mental health of the people deteriorated during the beginning of the pandemic. The main reason for this was the fear of getting infected with covid. People involved in the research told that they were infected during May 2020. For several months after that, he was facing problems like depression and anxiety.

Previous UK studies have shown an increase in mental health symptoms such as anxiety and depression after people were infected with covid 19, but this was detected six months after infection. This study suggests that the virus may have a longer-term effect on mental health than previously believed.

The researchers are calling on medical professionals to take their findings into account when treating patients with covid 19. Professor O'Connor said there was a need for health professionals to be alert to these long-lasting symptoms. This research highlights the importance of providing treatment and support for mental health along with physical health.
