During BW Businessworld wellbeing summit on 21st December, the audience got a chance to go through a reality-check of wellbeing in organisations. Talking about Crystal Gazing, eminent panelists including Geetanjali Shivdasani, VP & Head HR, Enel Green Power, Mirza Beg, CHRO, Bharti Foundation, Ashish Anand, CHRO, Religare and Rajdeep Das, CEO, Peters Surgical have put forth their opinions.
Geetanjali informed that the organisations that practice mindfulness are performing better. She also said that wellbeing is not limited to merely physical wellbeing but it touches all dimensions. Her eye opener remarks were, "mindfulness still stays in theory for most of the organisations."
Mirza hits hard while he commented upon the outcome and business performance by most of the organisation's that are at the core of all wellbeing activities. He said that, "job cuts forced business houses to take care of wellbeing because most employees were doing multitasking. Dissatisfaction from job also leads to problems." Mirza also focussed on how they tried to overcome this at Bharti Foundation.
Rajdeep threw light on fear of joblessness or job loss which leads to pressure. He also digged deep to reach out to roots of wellbeing issue in Indians. He said, "we are a community of people who believe in savings for the future. We are not informed and are poor at financial management. We have a long way to go."
"The brain is small but it consumes more than 50 per cent of human energy at times of stress," said Rajdeep while he focused on the importance of mental wellbeing. "Artificial intelligence and technology have connected the society but it has its own drawbacks," told Rajdeep.
Ashish talked about various phases of industrial revolution and how they lead to various wellbeing aspects. "Wellbeing has to look at all the three dimensions; physical, mental and emotional," quoted Ashish. He also accepted that, "as a society, we have not done enough for wellbeing and it has to cross many miles for any satisfactory outcomes."
