Following The Ancestral Algorithm - Maybe They Were Right!

Our technologically advanced generation might see previous generations as outdated but in reality, they were much ahead of us in living life to the fullest. Their way of living has given them a meaningful life which our generation often fails to apply in our lives. There’s a huge difference in the approach of gaining vital experiences of life and this has made all the difference.

Here are the five things that we can learn and apply in our lives from previous generations

1. Waking up early - The habit of waking up early is advocated by almost every health professional, yet we fail to wake up on time. Earlier generations who followed this practice were calmer, more patient & tolerant, and were mentally more fit than us.

Also, it helps in sustaining a healthier diet, achieving healthier skin, improving concentration, and increasing productivity. If we wake up early, then we will have more time for ourselves and can dedicate these extra hours for happier and healthier lives.

2. Watching your diet – Our previous generations were stricter on their food habits than us. They used to eat meals full of nutrition with a rare incidence of what we today call a cheat meal in the form of samosa or fritters on a rainy day.

Moreover, the hardships involved in the work they used to do for a living and at home helped them to burn more calories than we burn at the gym. On the hand, we rarely have a healthy meal and the amount of laziness technology has bloomed us with, is going to lead us at the gates of health disorders.

3. Early morning visits to Parks – Morning walks close to nature in an oxygen-enriched environment improved their physical fitness as well as mindfulness. It prevented them from life-threatening conditions like blood pressure, diabetes and strengthen bones and muscles.

They believed in the power of meditation which helped them to attain mental peace. Also, an early visit to parks or fields helped our previous generations to become socially exclusive and helped them in honing their debate skills.

4. Meeting people in person – With the advent of video calling and online chat platforms, our generation tends to avoid meeting people. This has led to a lack of confidence in this generation and is making them more introvert.

They even hesitate to initiate a conversation with strangers in real life and display their conversational forte behind mobiles and laptops with unformal and compact messages.

5. Reading books and newspapers - The habit of reading an early-morning newspaper has helped our previous generations to gain crucial information on almost every subject. It improved their reading & writing skills, vocabulary, and knowledge.

On the other hand, our generation believes in online reading. Studies have shown that people reading online often forget the information that they went through. Also, people jump to various sites while reading something on the web which makes it even more difficult to remember the facts provided by online platforms.

There is no doubt that we are living in a fast-paced world and have less time to dedicate to ourselves. But if we think of living a prosperous and healthier life, then we ought to follow a few basic things from our previous generations. They have shown us the path to attain a meaningful life and it’s in our hands whether to follow it or not.
