Ayurveda is a distinguished branch of medicine in India and is considered synonymous with ‘the science of life’. Ayurveda believes there should be a perfect balance within our body, and if this balance is maintained both physically and mentally, it will reflect externally too. Since ayurveda uses natural herbs as ingredients in all its formulations, they do not have harmful side effects. Here are a few quick Ayurvedic fixes right from the kitchen to give flawless skin:
Ghee and Turmeric mask
As Indians, most of us know that ghee and haldi have tremendous healing and therapeutic properties but what we did not know is that modern science tells us that ghee has antioxidants properties that protect the skin from sun damage and turmeric has collagen-building properties which are a blessing in winters
Method: Take a little ghee in a small pan, add a little turmeric and saute. Turn off the flame when the ghee has heated up a bit. Let the haldi melt into the ghee.
Let it cool and store it in a bottle for the next few uses.
Take some of this preparation and initially give a nice face massage for a few minutes and then leave as a mask. Use this antioxidant-rich face mask regularly for visibly glowing skin.
Ghee and Kesar mask
Ghee and Kesar mask helps combat hyperpigmentation and Melasma. It also protects from UV radiation and reduces premature ageing. It also adds immense glow and radiance to your face
Method: Take a little ghee in a small pan, add a few strands of saffron and saute. You can add a pinch of Turmeric to this as well. Turn off the flame when the ghee has heated up a bit, and let the essence of saffron blend into this ghee.
Let it cool and store it in a bottle for the next few uses.
Take some of this preparation and initially give a nice face massage for a few minutes and then leave as a mask.
Neem Tooth Powder
The Neem tree is known as the wonder tree of India. The Neem leaf is especially useful in balancing Vata disorders. It removes Ama and other toxins from the body, purifies the blood, and neutralises damaging free radicals. Neem bark and leaf extract are most effectively used in preventing cavities and gum disease. Neem is a remedy for tooth decay, oral infections and prevents bleeding and sore gums.
Method: Cut or break the neem stems into small pieces and place them in a pot. Submerge the stems fully in water. Boil the water until the stem pieces soften and turn into a paste-like consistency. Once the paste is ready, strain out the remaining water and transfer the paste to a blender.
Blend the paste until it has a powder-like consistency. Allow the powder to cool, then store it in an airtight container.
To use, mix a small amount of the powder with water to form a paste and use it as a natural toothpaste.
