Wellness At Work

We frequently lose sight of why we are working. We are drowning in a constant flood of reports, deadlines, goals, sales, orders, meetings, numbers, and other things that we are extremely stressed and hence lose self-awareness. One has to take a moment at this point to reflect on the circumstances. We must find the answers to a few questions through reflection. What is the reason behind what we do? Why does it benefit us? This will let us think clearly, which will offer us some inspiration and justification to continue.

1. Stay conscious while you are working

Avoid letting unrelated events impair your ability to accomplish your job. There are many people in the workplace from many cultures and origins. Make your office a pleasant place for yourself. This is heavily influenced by how well you get along with your boss and coworkers. Keep channels of communication open for discussion and problem-solving at work.

2. Consistency for Progress

When you decide to follow your passion, be sincere by giving your task your all. You may link yourself with other energies once you realise how crucial this is.

3. Stretching at work/ Desk Yoga

· Practise Sukshma Vyayam or subtle exercises at work

· Gentle rotation of neck, arms, wrists, hips, ankles to slowly warm up the joints.

· Walk around briskly

· Stretch and mobilize your muscles.

· Practice chair yoga and pranayama

4. Pranayama techniques

Anulom Vilom – Alternate Nostril Breathing

Method:

· Sit in a comfortable position of Sukhasana, Ardha Padmasana, Vajrasana or Poorna Padmasana.

· Keep your back straight, shoulders relaxed and close your eyes to focus on your breath.

· Place your palms on your knees facing upward (in Prapthi Mudra)

Technique:

Gently close your right nostril with your thumb, inhale into your left nostril and close it, letting the breath out through the right nostril. Then inhale through your right, closing it to exhale only through your left. This makes one cycle.

Brahmari Pranayama

Method

· Place your thumbs on the 'Tragus', the external flap outside on your ear.

· Place your index finger on your forehead; your middle finger on the Medial  Canthus and ring finger on the corner of your nostril

· Inhale and fill your lungs with air

· As you exhale, make a buzzing sound like a bee

· Keep your mouth closed

When you take care of your body, your mind follows suit by default. Introduce yoga three times a week for a minimum of 15-20 minutes each session. Focusing on your physical well-being first thing in the morning helps you be more productive and creative throughout the day. Pranayama exercises and meditation increase your level of focus and have a good impact on your ability to make decisions and create goals. Yoga helps you live a disciplined and organised life. These are important life lessons that can help you become a better employee, colleague, employer, and mentor in both your personal and professional lives.
