Every year on the International Yoga Day, he marks his appearance at some grand event in the country. This year he started the day by hosting the grand event at Ranchi and informing its significance to the masses. He also practised Yoga with more than 40,000 yoga enthusiasts at the Prabhat Tara ground.
Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat practised Yoga at Ahmedabad. Finding the International Day, 2019 as a perfect opportunity, he announced to set up a Yoga Board, to popularise Yoga among the people. As per the Gujarat government, 1.5 crore people joined the Yoga Day celebrations across the state.
Railway minister Piyush Goyal celebrating International Yoga Day in Delhi said, "Let us all pledge to make it a part of our daily lives for overall well-being, and to make India fit and healthy.” He was along with Union Law and Justice Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad at the event at Lodhi Garden, New Delhi.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar shared a picture of MEA India office where he along with 250 diplomats from 56 countries practised Yoga on the International Yoga Day 2019.
Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Prakash Javadekar performed Yoga at the main Delhi event at Rajpath. On the occasion, he said, “Yoga brings the entire humanity together as it unites the people from Tokyo to San Franciso.”
Rajnath Singh also emphasized on the sincere efforts done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take Yoga to the global efforts and termed Modi’s efforts as ‘Cultural Diplomacy’.
Indian Defence personnel also grabbed the opportunity of International Yoga Day 2019 and displayed their extreme fitness by performing Yoga at Line Out Control.
They also shared photos of Defence personnel practicing Yoga along with Military working dogs on Twitter. The dogs were seen copying the Yoga posture as performed by the soldiers. This photo even got warm wishes from all over the world.
Bollywood actress turned political, Urmila Matondkar emphasised on the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita’s lesson on it. She quoted, “Yoga is not a religion, it's a science of integrating body, mind and soul, says Matondkar.”
