You Are Worth It

In life there will be moments where you will question your worth. Those instances will shake up your very core and destabilize you.

It is at times like this that it is important to focus on practicing self-care to instill faith in yourself all over again.

Understanding your self-worth can lead to lifelong happiness. So how confident are you? Do you truly believe in yourself? Your level of confidence plays a big role in measuring your self-worth.

Here are a few good exercises to help you flex your faith muscles:

1. Remind yourself that you are a good person

Self-compassion offsets the negative effects of low self-esteem. Focus on your strengths on a daily basis. Indulge in positive self-talk, as ludicrous as it may seem. Look your self squarely in the mirror each morning and tell yourself how awesome you are. No one is perfect, and it’s our imperfections—and self-improvement journeys—that make us so fascinating.

2. Tell yourself that it doesn’t matter if other people don’t agree

A sense of self-worth built by and dependent upon the opinions of other people—conditional self-esteem—is a house of cards, liable to collapse at any moment. How you feel about yourself should have nothing to do with what other people think or feel about you. So constantly keep reminding yourself to disregard others opinion and only focus on your own.

3. Work on your core values

Identify what you stand for and what the absolute non-negotiables are in your life. When we do not live in alignment with our core values then there is dissonance. This dissonance shakes up our self-worth.

Self-esteem comes when you’re living a life that’s aligned with your value.

4. Do not be afraid to speak your mind

Very often we dumb ourselves down to fit into someone else's picture of what we should be, or even worse, to fit into a picture of who we think we ought to be. Tap into your many voices to express whats important to you-your passions, the values you believe in, your feelings and aspirations. This will help you feel liberated and heard. What is most important is when we hear ourselves.

5. Be authentic

When you are truthful to yourself there is a certain indestructibility about you. If you do this on a regular basis your inner narrative will change. Your self-worth will skyrocket. Not only will you be more approving of yourself but you will become far more attractive to others too.

6. Be willing to embrace change

If you are feeling shaky about yourself, remind yourself of all the times that you embraced change and how wonderful you felt. Take a moment to celebrate changes that you successfully adapted to. This will help you weather the next storm on your path to a more fulfilled life.

7. Create a positive environment

The environment which you live and work in should inspire positivity. Know that you are worth every investment that you can afford. It doesn’t even have to necessarily entail expenses, it could be something as simple as positive imagery in your space. The look and feel of our surroundings greatly effect our sense of wellbeing and worth.

8. Remember to pause

When we lose touch with ourselves, we end up feeling worthless and rudderless. Prayer, meditation, and exercise are great ways to reset. So remember to take a few minutes out on a regular basis for yourself to pause and invest in yourself. Whether you are single, married a parent or not, you are worth that investment.
