Jaora is a princely estate of independent India situated in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh in the district. Many years ago a prominent social worker and philanthropist Jhamaklal Khariwal and his close friend Dr. Harish Bhalla dreamt of starting a holistic centre in the rural area for the total reformation of people who deviated in life due to bad habits or stress and distress in their lives. When Dr. Bhalla was creating awareness in the country through a very popular programme on Doordarshan - Aandhi Galiyan, Jhamaklal Khariwal was invited to talk on the problem of drug addiction in the rural area, where he suggested that rehabilitation centres must open in the rural setup and he being a landlord desired in his last wishes to the family that a large chunk of land should be donated to Dr. Bhalla and his committed team for opening a Gurukul kind of holistic centre which would cater to all kind of human problems arising out of stressful lives of metropolis cities.
Keeping his wishes and promises, the Khariwal family decided to invite Dr. Harish Bhalla and requested him to fulfil the dream of their father. Dr. Bhalla suggested the formation of a trust in the name of Mr. Jhamaklal Khariwal and Mr. A.L. Bhalla, and invited another well-known philanthropist family - Kantheds, to join the trust and they decided to name it the Mind, Body and Soul International Holistic Centre of Jaora. It's Bhoomi Pujan was done by none other than the famous Governor of Kerala, Mr. Arif Mohammed Khan who specially flew down from Kerala to this remote area and did the Bhoomi Pujan. After that, he addressed a large gathering of people of Jaora and other villages and highly appreciated the unique efforts of the trust and the families for planning a holistic centre in the rural area of Madhya Pradesh.
