Preceding, progressive and the anticipated wave of COVID 19 is nothing short of a complete upheaval. It’s the only conversation piece without exception, manifesting sheer panic, pain and plight, forging the clamor all the more deafening. The loss of any kind is definitely irreparable but its disperse is making the redressal even worse. My empirical experience of 14 days in solitude, traversing from positive to negative might not be pervasive but can surely epitomize many. I am truly empathetic towards each human who has incurred loss of any kind. But while feeling for hard-hit, I equally feel for the ones who are trying to retrieve by all possible means in quest of motivation and inspiration to sustain there will. Lessons I got to learn unveiled a new me, whereof RT PCR report came negative but rest every bit was laden with optimism. Here I have tried to attentively enumerate best of my moments in the interest of one and all.
Meeting inner self
Being in the race of making ends meet we hardly find time to meet and examine our own inner being. While being in the recovery mode I got a chance to ascertain my values, goals, morals and beliefs. While looking at my present I was able to underline the highs and lows, helping me identify the turning points that led me to my recent state. Ones the timeline was made clear, I decided to start over with a clean slate. Changes include as simple as eating healthy food and stick to regular workouts and as big as deciding
to do masters at this middle age, that too from the foreign land. Knowing your inner self is something that brings us balance as-well-as equanimity in everyday life. Aren’t we all desirous of such a thing?
Making novel Choices
In the long run we tend to tangle so much with our comfort zone that we hesitate to explore something new. Also, at times we are interested to take a new route but keep missing on that one start. This confinement, my longing to practice yoga and meditation found its way beyond all the onslaught of questions that were putting me in a vulnerable position. This timely stride not only helped me fight the virus but also vanquished my fear of the unknown. Today, powered by meditation I have fallen in love with myself and the changed perspective has built the most conducive milieu. Don’t we want to experience the thrill of the new?
Embracing Minimalism
Most of us are afflicted with privilege blindness driven by which we remain incognizant to the hardships of the deprived. When I was circumstantially forced to live out of one room, take care of my daily chores using minimalistic resources blessed me with a realization beyond what is trending today. Do it yourself! Me who prefers to use elaborate crockery and cutlery, got to use only one plate, one bowl and just one mug but it was equally fulfilling, because I was still privileged. Realizing the importance of one helped me feel for the one with none. Giving emotional significance to your loved ones and not to the material goods is the key to happiness. It is not necessarily about extreme sparseness but a balanced version can abbreviate the gap between haves and have nots, to an extent. Don’t we seek ecstasy?
Breaking misconceptions
All the current debates and discussions principally revolves around remedy to defeat COVID 19. Range of protocols are floating all over the place. Surprisingly, you can see them trending on whats app and other communication channels. Everyone is looking for an immediate cure and that’s understandable but hold on, this rush is also leading to predicaments which can be detrimental. I had mild symptoms and I went for a timely precautionary test. Found myself positive and opted for homeopathy. Everyone around me was shocked and I was forced to reconsider but I didn’t move an inch. I followed the prescribed protocol with all faith and determination and it just worked for me. This doesn't mean that allopathy should not be used, but it should be used cautiously and under proper guidance depending upon the severity, but only allopathy works is also incorrect. Secondly, every other person is suggesting what to eat and what not to eat. Believe you me, it’s purely about healthy eating and keeping yourself completely hydrated. Aren’t we aspire for a healthy living?
Digital Detox
Quarantine enabled me to go for a digital detox. During this time there has been not a single communication channel that is not talking about number of covid cases, lack of infrastructure or fatality rate. One feel surrounded by a cyclone of negativity. Social media that was principally to facilitate networking and social bonding has now become a source of fear and anxiety. I stepped back from social media and other such channels and made sure that I will only read or watch the content that is positively informative and, in some way, add value to my personal or professional well-being. I underpinned myself with inspiring content as it’s been said that positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life.
So when you are given a chance to immerse in solitude and live with yourself, live it to the fullest, love yourself like never before and you will find yourself to be your only source of bliss.
