Last year when the Delhi government launched its happiness curriculum for government schools, it received worldwide accomplishment for the noble initiative. Now, to celebrate the annual completion of the curriculum, the Aam Aadmi Party launched the ‘Happiness Utsav’ from July 16.
While talking to Press Trust of India (PTI) about the festival, Sisodia informed, “The Delhi government is celebrating the Happiness Utsav to mark the first year of the curriculum's launch. On Day 1, the children were involved in a drawing mela, where they drew on the subject 'What makes you happy?’."
In a tweet, Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi said, “To celebrate one year of #HappinessClass in our govt. schools to connect with self & transform, we bring a 15-day festival in all schools, starting today!”
"Lakhs of children across the city from Classes 1 to 8 sat in their respective school assemblies to take part in the activity. Such activities will encourage children to reflect on their emotion and thought process. It will help them understand themselves better and lead them to be mindful of their feelings," he further added.
The 15-day festival is witnessing activities and performances by the students along with exhibitions based on the theme of happiness. Also, throughout the 15 days, the first session of about 50 minutes is encouraging the students to take part in numerous activities.
Further, informing on the whereabouts of the festival, Manish highlighted, "Dignitaries, alumni and parents have been invited by the schools to witness this festival for children. On the second day, all schools will hold a panel discussion in every class on what to ensure happiness for children and what it means to be compassionate towards others. Teachers have identified the participants and the questions for the panel in advance."
