GIIS Promotes Sustainable Living On World Environment Day

This World Environment day Global Indian International School (GIIS), an educational institution, launched a series of activities and a social media contest in order to educate students about the importance of our ecology and sustainable living. The campaign involves various activities through which the young minds were sensitized towards the environment and they earned how to take care of it.

Activities such as planting saplings, making organic liquid manure for distribution in the neighborhood, hydroponic method of farming, and many more activities were part of the well-planned multi-faceted virtual campaign. Taking inspiration from the previous years’ campaign #LetsUnlockNature, the school has already launched #GIISGreenWarriors campaign on social media platforms. The campaign aims at promoting sustainable living practices. At Global Indian International School, students, as well as parents, are encouraged to give back to nature as much as they can by involving themselves in regular activities that inculcate the idea of sustainable living.

Adding further to the information about the campaign, Rajiv Bansal, Director-Operations, Global Indian International School (GIIS) said, “At GIIS it has been our constant endeavour to educate our children about the significance of ecology and environment. We are a school that wants its students to learn and practice sustainable ways of living. Activities such as recycling and upcycling waste and hydroponic farming would encourage the students to widen their horizons and inculcate a notion of sustainable living. Climate change is a major concern worldwide, and its impact can be seen everywhere, including India. As educators, we want to ensure that students understand the impact of the choices they make and become responsible over time. These activities will not only mark world environment day but also help them grow into aware and responsible citizens of tomorrow.”

Over 2000 students in the age bracket of 3.5 years and above from GIIS Whitefield and GIIS Bannerghatta campuses participated in the campaign. Owing to the current situation and keeping the safety of students in mind, indoor activities via virtual mediums have been planned this time as well.

The school finds it imperative to encourage students to connect with nature from a young age. Understanding the importance of raising students in a nature-friendly green ambience, eco-friendly Bangalore campuses have been designed to break the monotony of students.
