International Body-Mind Wellness Day: Know Significance And History

International Mind and Body Wellness Day is celebrated on January 3 every year. The day is commemorated with the aim of promoting a holistic approach to assessing human wellbeing.

A healthy mind-soul-body connection is an idea rooted in many ancient and indigenous healing traditions, Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, Eastern philosophy and yoga. Modern practices regarding mental and physical health are recent.

"Speaking of our physical and mental health, it must be noted that they’re simply the two sides of the same coin. The bond between mind and body is direct yet complex as various studies have proved that our physical strength and wellness is a direct reflection of our thought process, feelings, emotional strength and behavioral pattern. Tension, for example, has been connected to heart disease, stomach issues, and headaches according to studies. On the contrary, a positive outlook supports in building a strong immune system which ensures speedy recovery. It is important that we understand and relay this connection to have all the comforts and conveniences of today's modern world to lead a healthy and happy life, " said Mitesh Bhandari, co-founder and CFO, India Shoppe .

History

Hippocrates is considered the founder of the naturopathic movement that has existed for thousands of years. His research and teachings have been instrumental in initiating ongoing research into how medicine is used around the world.

International Mind-Body Wellness Day celebrates and promotes awareness of the vital mind-body connection and encourages people to appreciate and enjoy all aspects of well-being. Whether a healthy and optimistic mind promotes a healthy body or vice versa, science has recently validated the relationship between mind and body well-being and received the attention it deserves.

Nikhil Kurhe, CEO and co-founder, Finarkein Analytics said, "On this International Mind-Body Wellness Day, I would like to encourage all readers to accept slowing down as an option when needed and to openly explore their own learning and thought processes for a healthier mind, body, and soul."

Significance

An integral part of overall health and well-being is well-being of mind and body. Mental and physical health has many benefits, including: B. Reduces stress levels, enhances mental and emotional health, and enhances physical well-being.

Both our mind and body can suffer from stress. By working on your mental and physical health, you can manage your stress in a healthy way.

Good physical and mental health can lift your spirits, lower your anxiety levels, and help you cope with difficult life events. Good physical and mental health can help you maintain a healthy weight, sleep better, and lower your risk of developing chronic diseases.

However, with the physical and mental health, the spiritual health of a person also mean a lot. With a healthy soul, one can achieve all the bests in his life.

Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, yoga guru, founder, Akshar Yoga Centre said, "The body is the home that we occupy and it is vital that the spirit that occupies this vessel is important. Imagine if a catastrophe occurs where there could be a fire in your home the first thing on your mind is not going to be about saving the house but saving the people who live in the house. The priority becomes the people who live in the house and not so much the material wealth or the valuables. That will come after protecting oneself. In this same way the body and the mind is a residence for us and this is where we can find the soul. So if we do not spend this life understanding or discovering the soul then it becomes a wasted life. The soul is the energy and the life force behind our existence."

"Soul is the Spark Of Unique Life. We human beings are nothing but that spark or that power that is a part of the Divine or the Supreme Immortal Power, SIP.  Just as the wellness of the body and the wellness of the mind to have peace is important, wellness of the soul is important greatly too. Soul is a gift from the Supreme Divine snd it is our prime duty to take care of it because if the soul’s wellness is not ensured, our life will be in a state of chaos," said AiR Atman in Ravi, spiritual leader, founder, AiR Institute of Realisation and AiR center of Enlightenment.
