The Indian tabla player, percussionist, composer and music producer took the humble musical instrument, the tabla, on world stage and became the flag bearer of carrying forward the legacy of Indian classical music. In India, he was conferred with Padma Sri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, and he brought laurels to the Indian music fraternity when he won four Grammy Awards. Zakir Hussain Allarakha Qureshi took Indian classical music to a global audience and made tabla popular among the masses, so much so that players henceforth emulated his unique hair flipping style.
