Spirituality is based on the premise that we live in this world, but we are not from it. Many of our problems lie in not understanding our fundamental identity. We are not human beings having spiritual experiences; we are spiritual beings having human experiences. It is impossible to realise this principal theoretically. We can attend hundreds of lectures and read volumes of books, but this is inadequate without us committing to a spiritual practice or Sadhna. The simplest way to explain spiritual practice is to describe the hierarchy of connections. At any moment We can be making three kinds of connections.Outside ourselves: the majority of our time is spend in connecting with the world - networking, relationships, our work. it is all crucial, but can lead us astray if we have no inner directions. The fear of missing out, thinking that the grass is greener else where, and living a life out of balance are all symptoms of having incorrectly prioritise happiness outside of ourselves.Inside ourselves : Beyond our everyday lives, many look for solace within. People struggling with life, those trying to work on themselves to conquer the external world, those curious about their inner world, and occasionally, a few of those seeking truth - these are the types of people who will take the journey within.Above ourselves : Those simply voyaging can get frustrated by their lack of progress or direction. They can feel as though they are on a ship travelling seventeen knots per hour, but without a compass. Connecting above ourselves means re-establishing our relationship with God, or something higher than ourselves. God is one, and is identified differently across different cultures. Therefore, it is not about connecting to my God or your God, it is about connecting to our God. When this happens, it is as if a light bulb is getting connected to an entire powerhouse. A bulb on its own is just a piece of glass with a tungsten filament, it needs and electrical charge to experience light and give light to others. Similarly, it is our relationship with something higher then ourselves that can give us love and allow us to give love to others.

As for the children of the divided parents, they are twice as likely to experience a variety of social, psychological or academic problems.Happiness tends to be greater among those who have paying work. Death rate and incidences of illness, depression, suicide, and alcoholism are notably higher among the unemployed and yet housewives are no more dissatisfied than professionals. It is also interesting to note that retirement makes life not less satisfying, but rather more so. The elderly see their lives as less pleasant as those of the young, but they enjoy more stable over all satisfaction and feel more positive emotions. Age, it seems can grant relative wisdom. Happiness tends to be more pronounced among highly energetic people in good physical condition. It does not seem to be linked to climate, contrary to received wisdom, people are no happier in sunny regions than they are in rainy ones, except for the pathological cases of those suffering from depression due to the long winter nights northern latitudes.Leisure activities enhance satisfaction, especially among those who do not work ( the retired, those of independent means, the unemployed), in part because people are more in voluntary control of what they do. Vacations have a positive effect on well-being, calm and health. Only three percent of people complain of headaches, as opposed to twenty one percent of those working. The same disparity holds true for fatigue and irritability. It should noted by that watching Television as popular as it is leads to only a minimal increase in well-being. As for those who watch a lot, they are on average less happy. In the US and in Europe people spent an average of 3.5 Hours a day in front of TV set. That is the whole year of life every seven years!

Each time you breathe out, you can let go and release your thought about the past and future. Just focus on breathing in..... then breathing out. Certainly, you will notice thoughts arising as you breathe, thoughts about what you have to do tomorrow, or something that happened last week. The thoughts mint be pleasant or unpleasant , but whatever form they take, don't try and force them away, just allow them to come and go, without judgement, without feeling you to hive them any attention. If your thoughts do get the better of you, simply continue to come back to your breathing, which because it always occurs in the here and now, will draw you into the present. There are a number of ways you can practice mindful breathing. Here are three techniques Breathing Colour: Start by closing your eyes. Then take a slow , deep breath. You might like to imagine the colour of the filling not just your lungs but your entire body, Imagine that color ( Perhaps a vibrant blue or bright red?) coursing through your body. See the color of your breath expand down the back of each leg, across the soles of your feet and up the front of your legs,. Feel it enter your torso and move up your spine were it flow down each arm, around the back of each hand, through your palm and back up your arms to your neck. Breathing and shaking your hands: Breathe into the count of five. Then, blow out the air in five or six quick huffs ( huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh) as you pretend to shake the water off your wet hands. Repeat as often as you want to. Alternate nostril breathing: Push one nostril closed with your finger. Take one long breath in through the open nostril for about five seconds , then pinch that one and let go of the other, breathing out slowly. Repeat alternately. Try to breathe out for as long as possible. Mindful Breathing is like a reset button that you can push to return yourself to the present moment whenever you feel the need. Which breathing technique you use is not as important as just remembering to use one of them!Just know that by focusing g on your breathing, you are bringing your attention inward to the present moment, rather than allowing your mind to get caught up and pulled back into the past or forward into the future.
Read MoreI have heard about one man, a great businessman, a d dress manufacturer. He died. Somehow, by some technical mistake, he entered heaven, He met his old partner there. The old partner was as sad as he was on this earth. So the businessman said, " What does it mean? You are in heaven, and so unhappy?"The partner said, " It is okay, but personally I prefer Miami. "And the other also came to the same conclusion within days. They again became partners there, and they wanted to start a business firm to manufacture dresses. The same is going to happen wherever you go, because you are the world. You create a world around you, then the world helps the mind which has created it. The son helps the father the helps the mother, your shadow helps the substance then the mind to strengthened more, then again you create the same world on the same line. From where to start a transformation? How to change? If you look, the first look will say to change the world, because it is so apparent around you. Change it! And that's what you h ave been doing for many lives; continuously changing the world, changing this and that, changing houses bodies, wives, husbands, friends - changing, but never looking to the fact that you remain the same, so how can you change the world? That's why a false tradition of renunciation came into existence all over the world. Escape from the house and go tho the monastery. Escape from the market, go to the Himalayas. Escape from the world! you can easily go to the Himalayas, but how can you escape from yourself? You will create the same world there- the same! It may be a miniature world, it may not be so vast, but you will do the same. You are the same - how can you do anything else?Deeper insights reveal this: change the mind, then the world changes, The wherever you are, a different world is revealed. You go deeper, and then you understand that if you want to be really without the world around you.....Because howsoever beautiful the world is sooner or later it will become a boredom and you will be fed up. Even if it is heaven you will start longing for hell, because the mind needs change, It cannot live in the eternal, it cannot live in the non changing, because the mind hankers for some new curiosity, some new sensation, some new excitement. It is not possible for the mind to stop time and to timelessly remain. That is why mind cannot live in the now, the here, because now is not a part of time. The now never changes it is eternal. You cannot say it is unchanging, that it is not permanent, that it is eternal. It is simply as it is. Nothing happens there. It is emptiness.
