During the course of life we may undertake many tasks some which will turn out to be successful while others may result in failure or loss. But even through this journey of ups and downs we are always gaining valuable wisdom and knowledge. And through it all is a process of seeking or searching for some meaning in life just like how scientists are engaged in doing. This is precisely what spirituality is all about.
The life of a spiritual seeker consists of his or her everyday Sadhana, Upasana and practices. Through these processes the spiritual practitioner is seeking answers on various topics such as life, God, mysteries of the universe and so on. The purpose of spirituality is to constantly seek to widen one's horizons of thought. Spirituality encourages multiple perceptions and pushes you to think out of the box by breaking your own self imposed barriers and limitations.
Body is the temple
Good health is a top priority for the spiritual seeker. This is because the body is considered to be a sacred place akin to a temple and the spiritual practitioner understands that keeping the body in good health will translate into a healthy mind as well. Sound mind and a sound body also allows for positive energy to flow through one in the form of good thoughts, speech, action, and behaviour. This also has a direct impact on your level of confidence.
Attachment and detachment
Those who practice spirituality have a good understanding of the concepts of attachment and detachment. The spiritual seeker will get attached to any activity that is healthy wholesome and productive. It is because these activities allow him or her to grow and develop on the path of spirituality. And on the other hand anything that will deter the spiritual practitioner from his or her spiritual mission and purpose will immediately be dealt with a sense of detachment.
Journey of self development
The spiritual seeker leads the life wanting to be on a journey of self development. This means that every day the individual is looking to refine his thought processes and trying to find more ways where he or she can be productive and useful not only to his/her own journey but also to the society and the world at large.
Staying true to his/her work
No matter what kind of profession or means of livelihood that a spiritual seeker takes up it will be one that is pure and honest. They may set up a fruit stand selling all kinds of fruits vegetables. It could also be possible that a spiritual seeker takes up the profession of being a farmer or an agriculturalist. He or she may even seek to gain employment and earn money through any spiritual practices like yoga.
Surrendered to Guru
Finally a spiritual seeker is surrendered to the guidance of his master. Those practicing spirituality under the leadership of as spiritual mentor will live their life listening and following the teachings and the lessons of the Guru.
