Mindful Eating Leads To Better Health

Mindful eating is not only about the type of food we consume, but is also about the way we consume it. Overeating at times leads to certain uncomfortable symptoms like acidity and a feeling of being sick or wanting to throw up. Chef Amrita Raichand, Lifestyle Chef, India's Cultural Ambassador, TEDx Speaker, and Founder of Chef and Beyond, said “People should be thankful to God while eating. If somebody feels sleepy post eating then it’s a sign of overeating. People should eat what suits their system or what works for them. Along with mindful eating it is necessary to exercise. People start eating less food thinking that they have started ageing but it is the opposite, as people start ageing because they eat less food.”

Mindful eating begins at home and cooking is a skill that every person should inculcate and be able to indulge in.

“Mindful eating is planning about the making of food which can give you energy. It is more about listening to your body about what it wants as food,” said Chef Vicky Ratnani, Founder of Speak Burgers and The Gourmet Gyan Studio.

Sunil Chauhan, Founder of Fab Cafe, Chefs United and Co-Founder of Mothers Kitchen stated that “One has to interact with food while eating it because there are a lot of distractions in today’s time. While we make our burgers we try to make them more from the chef’s kitchen. We use high-quality chicken and ingredients.”

To understand mindful eating one should understand how their body behaves before eating, while eating, and post-eating because people become what they eat. Almost 3 decades ago, food was much more organic than it is today.
