16 Lakh Indians Died In A Year Due To Air Pollution: Report

The level of air pollution in Delhi NCR is increasing continuously. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has been recorded at 339 in the capital Delhi on Monday which is considered in the very serious category. The air of the capital remains toxic. This air pollution also causes death.

According to a 2019 report in 'The Lancent Medical Journal', 9 million people died due to pollution worldwide. In this, 16 lakh people lost their lives due to air pollution in India alone. In this the number of elderly people was very high.

It was told in the study that many types of dangerous respiratory diseases, including lung cancer, are caused by air pollution that causes death. This disease is proving to be so deadly that every day more than six thousand people are losing their lives due to pollution in the country. Doctors tell that pollution can cause many problems to the heart apart from lungs. According to the National Center for Biotechnology information, air pollution can lead to heart attacks.

How to protect from air pollution?

  • Wear a mask while going out
  • Protect against dust and fumes
  • Take right and healthy food
  • Avoid morning walks
  • Install air purifier in the house
  • Always keep an inhaler with an asthma patient 
  • Contact a doctor immediately if trouble breathing
