Booster Dose Can Reduce Serious Effects Of New Covid Variants: Experts

In view of the danger of Omicron's two new strains, experts have expressed the possibility of increasing the cases of covid again in the country. Hence, vaccines are also a better option apart from following the covid protocol for protection, but it is seen that the number of people taking the booster dose in the country is very less.

Experts say that the serious effects of the virus can be reduced by taking a booster dose. Dr Sunila Garg, a member of the Lancent Covid 19 Commission of India Task Force, said that the danger of coronavirus in the country may increase again. It is necessary to protect people in the high risk group from the new variants. For this, the elderly and people suffering from chronic serious diseases should take a booster dose of the vaccine. Any serious effects of the virus can be prevented by taking the third dose.

Dr Sunila said that even after taking the vaccine, if a person becomes infected with covid, the symptoms of the virus are not serious. This can reduce the risk of hospitalisation and death. In such a situation, it is necessary to get a booster dose.

Epidemiologist Dr Jugal Kishore said that the coronavirus is still in spread across the world. It is constantly being mutated, because of this, new variants are coming out. More strains may come in the coming days as well. However, after the last delta variant, no dangerous strain of covid has come yet. All its variants are coming after Omicron. Currently, there are more than 4 sub-variants of Omicron in India. Due to this, there is a slight increase in the cases every few months, although now people need to be cautious in view of the dangers of the new strain.

Vaccination is going on in the country. Therefore, those in the high risk group should get the third dose. This will prevent the serious effects of the virus. Apart from this, it is also necessary that people protect themselves from covid and strictly follow the rules like masks and hand hygiene.
