75% Of Patients In India Do Not Have High Blood Pressure Under Control: Study
Less than a quarter of the patients with high blood pressure in India have blood pressure control. That is, 75 per cent patients do not have pressure under control. This has been revealed in a study published in the research journal 'The Lancet Regional Health'.
High blood pressure is an important factor for heart patients, which is one of the leading causes of premature death. Researchers from the National Center for Disease Control, New Delhi and America's 'Boston University School of Public Health' have reviewed in detail 51 studies published after 2001. On this basis, the rates of high blood pressure control in India were found.
In the research it was found that in 21 studies (41 per cent), men had the worst rate of high blood pressure control compared to women. Six studies (12 per cent) found worse control rates among rural patients.
The authors of this research study said, "Less than a quarter of high blood pressure patients in India had their blood pressure under control during 2016-2020. However, the control rate improved over the past few years."
Researchers say that achieving a better control rate of hypertension is very important in reducing the number of deaths of heart patients. The reason being that high blood pressure is one of the leading causes of death in India.
