Healthy Food Tips Before, During, And After Holi

Holi, is the most exciting and vibrant festival of colors that everyone looks forward to all year. It's a time for celebration, bonding, and of course, indulging in delectable foods. Holi is a lot of fun, there are a few important things to keep in mind, such as your diet, which many people tend to ignore and indulge in binge eating. It is not necessary to eat boring food; instead, some healthy tips can be used to make the foods as unique as the festival itself.

1] Healthy tips pre Holi-

· Stay Hydrated- Dehydration can be caused by the sun and the outside temperature. Coconut water, lemon water, buttermilk or Chaas, vegetable juice (cucumber juice, for example), fruits, and fruit juices are all good ways to stay hydrated. Make sure to drink plenty of water. This will make it easier for you to digest the festive food and will also keep you from overeating.

· Eat simple food- While preparations for any Indian festival begin a day or two before the actual festival, keep your food simple. Increase the amount of fiber and digestive food in your diet to aid in the cleansing of your body. Consider probiotic foods. To keep yourself satiated during and before Holi, eat curd and yogurt. Probiotics will help you to digest food more efficiently and avoid overeating.

2] Healthy food tips during Holi-

· Have a light breakfast- On Holi, opt for a light breakfast of Poha or curd and flat rice. Eating a salad or a bowl of oats will keep you from starving and overeating during the Holi celebration.

· Opt for a healthy dessert- Instead of eating dessert which contains high amounts of sugar try out some healthy options which are tasty also. Try out Delicious and nutritious sweets including beetroot halwa, fruit smoothies, makhana kheer, and dates kheer. Use dates as a sweetener in place of sugar.

· Choose baked over deep-fried- Bake snacks instead of deep-frying them. You can bake anything, whether it's chips or gujia.

· Try low-cal thandai- Holi isn’t complete without Thandai. Simply make it with low-fat milk and raw honey as a sugar substitute this year, and enjoy the guilt-free drink.

3] Healthy food tips after Holi-

· Consume detoxifying drinks- Lemons can naturally treat everything related to your digestive system, from bloating to indigestion. Lemons are essential in a post-Holi detox, especially as an early morning health ritual. Lemon contains vitamin C, which helps to alleviate hangovers and cleanses the body.

Begin your day after Holi with a glass of cucumber water, which will quench your thirst while also making you feel full. It also aids in the cleansing of your body from all the junk and sweets consumed during the festival.

· Eat fresh fruits and vegetables- To satisfy your stomach, choose low glycemic whole fruits and vegetables such as apple, kiwi, papaya, berries, and so on. Vegetable broth, blanched vegetables, or a light homemade vegetable soup are all delicious. The fiber in fruits and vegetables will help your gut and digestive system stay healthy.

· Prefer home-cooked food- For the next few meals, stick to light home-cooked foods with no-oil preparations like khichadi, rice poha, oats, oatmeal’s, and quinoa salad. This will assist your liver in detoxifying and rejuvenating itself. For the next few days, try to limit your salt and avoid sugar intake.
