New AYUSH Global Social Media Platform Launched On Indian Independence Day

“Our mission is to promote health and wellness for individuals and society through the sharing of information on AYUSH & traditional Indian medicine-related programs, research, new initiatives, products and services. We are excited about reaching out to everyone who believes in the huge benefits AYUSH can offer. There is a vast pool of talent that can be harnessed amongst consumers, researchers, business people, volunteers, investors and philanthropists who can be a big asset in making the new initiative a big success. They can provide ideas, time, infrastructure, validation, funding or any other aspects to bring the potential of AYUSH into reality. Much needs to be done regarding technology, marketing, content, scientific investigations, business relationships and entrepreneurship” said Dr Mahadevan Seetharaman, one of the core volunteers interested in promoting AYUSH Global.

Sharad Marathe, Chairman, AYUSH Task Force, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, said that “Revitalizing AYUSH sector, with its rich repository of knowledge and practices, can make India a global leader in integrative healthcare in the 21st century. After the worldwide success of Yoga, it is time for AYUSH to make its mark globally through increased focus on scientific research, development, protocols and scalable models. Creatively leveraging Social Media can bring together the global resources of all kinds and snowball a revolution in the fastest time frame.  The new platform should take this on as a mission.  We are delighted that AYUSH global is aiming to connect all interested stakeholders globally to create awareness, develop science further and build confidence in the vast knowledge base that goes back to over 5000 years.”

The task force was set up by the Indian Government’s AYUSH Ministry to develop an action-oriented strategy and implementation roadmap on a fast track basis. Marathe added that the goal of AYUSH Global should be to build a community of at least one million stakeholders by August 15, 2020.

Informally collected case studies seem to indicate that several safe botanicals-based formulations have been able to demonstrate positive results in areas such as diabetes, cancer, brain disorders, etc. Efforts are now underway to validate the benefits on a fast track basis through scientifically conducted pre-clinical studies and clinical trials. This will make it possible to assess the real impact that AYUSH based nutraceuticals or medicinal formulations may be able to deliver to the global marketplace. The new social media platform will try to gather and communicate the results of such efforts, and other AYUSH-based research, education, industry or entrepreneurial initiatives, on a real-time basis.

In his Independence Day speech today Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a number of important points, at least two of which connect well with the launch of AYUSH Global Digital Community today.  Prime Minister Modi emphasized the aspiration of taking the Indian economy to $5 Trillion and the need to use high jump to get there rather than taking incremental steps.  AYUSH has the potential to revolutionize the health and wellness part of the global economy including that of India.  And, Social media can play a big role in making this happen at the required scale and speed. That is one of the endeavours the new platform ayush.global aims to achieve!
