Niti Acknowledges Power of Data For Healthcare

FitIndia Conclave organised by MedscapeIndia on 30th June New Delhi saw a presentation on ‘Startup for affordable healthcare’ by Yaduvendra Mathur, Special Secretary Niti Aayog which brought out facts and figures relating government’s role in promoting start-ups, especially in the sector of healthcare.

On the topic of the use of Big data, Yaduvendra said, “Niti is supporting the collection of data of healthcare related issues like infrastructure, availability of doctors, transfer of doctors & officers of health department”.

While displaying concern on the availability of data he said that earlier data and its reports came after two-three years later which led to the delay in planning and action. Further, he said, “Now there’s a shift in the pattern as we are getting a real-time date which serves as feedback and hence, we can implement timely changes.”

During the present Mathur shared government initiatives for the promotion of start-ups and said, “Government’s Start-up India Action Plan 2016 has promoted the start-up culture in India. We already have more than 20,000 start-ups. Further Niti Aayog has 110 incubators and is dedicated to increasing the profits of start-ups, especially those working for the health-care industry”.

“We already have 22 homegrown unicorn start-ups backed by 231 angel investors, more than 200 venture capitals. On average, a start-up provides approximately 11 job opportunities”, Mathur further added.
