Nowadays, due to stress and irregular lifestyle, there has been a lot of change in the sleeping pattern of people. Lack of sleep cause various type of diseases and illness.
These days people are not able to get enough sleep due to work stress. In the absence of sleep, they face irritability, lack of interest in work, difficulty in staying focused. But, one can complete 8 hours of sleep in 4 hours with the help of Non-Sleep Deep Rest i.e., NSDR technique.
Actually this process of sleep is a kind of meditation while lying down. Surprisingly, with this technique one gets the benefits of sleeping even while they are awake. At this time the brain relaxes in the same way as it does while sleeping. This technique relieves stress and provides deep sleep. With its continuous practice, one can complete 8 hours of sleep in just 4 hours.
There are types of neuron waves coming out of the brain and the alpha wave coming out of these gives a signal to the brain to be happy. Efforts are made to activate these alpha waves through yoga and meditation. With the activation of these waves, all kinds of stress ends and the mind goes into a relaxing mode.
Experts say that this techniques have been in use since the era of Mahabhrata where sages practised such technique.
To practice this, lie on your bed in the dark or in very low light. Leave the body loose and relax the arms and legs completely. Then, open the palms and turn them upwards. Take a deep breath and meditate on the right paw and after that focus on all the organs from the paw to the head. During this process, keep breathing in and out normally. Calm down the mind, this way you will get to sleep soon.
Stanford School of Medicine scientist, Dr Andrew Huberman explained this technique in detail saying that, if sleep is not complete in the modern era, then you can take the help of this technique. In a way, it can be said that it is also Ayurvedic sleep. However, whenever you get a chance, take only 7 to 8 hours of sleep at night. This technique is to complete sleep in a short time. Use it only when needed.
