Stiff neck is a common problem, usually due to muscle weakness because of poor posture. Sometimes this condition can become very painful and can affect day to day activities. A clenched jaw, strain, osteoarthritis or a spinal injury can be other reasons behind a stiff neck. One can treat stiff neck with some home remedies and precautions.

Heat or Cold therapy

Heat or cold therapy helps fight stiffness in the neck. It is also useful in reducing inflammation. One can use a heat bag for some relief. Taking a hot water bath can also give positive results. If somone wants to use cold therapy, use an ice pack for about 20 minutes. One can simply wrap some ice cubes in a towel and use it to fight neck stiffness.

Exercise

Exercising is the best way to reduce neck stiffness. Not only the neck, it is beneficial for our whole body. This will helps combat the ill-effects of poor posture and sitting for long periods of time. One should exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

One of the causes of stiffness in the neck is stress. You should follow such strategies that can help fight stress. Try meditation, exercise or yoga to reduce stress naturally.

Change sleeping position

If you are not sleeping properly, it can result to a stiff neck. You should consider changing your position while you sleep. Also check whether you are using the right pillow or not. Sleep in comfortable position and environment.

Change sitting position

The main cause of neck stiffness is poor posture. You should correct your posture while sitting. Poor posture can lead to digestive issues, neck pain, stress and many other health problems. That's why one sit on a chair with their back and shoulders straight.

Reduce screen time

In the era of online world, most of the work is done one screen. In such a situation, one should monitor their screen time, and try to reduce it. Keeping works pending may lead to more screen timing and workloads. Hence, one must fix a schedule and try reducing screen time.
