Yoga Unifies Mind, Body, And Soul - Anwesha Mukherjee

In a conversation with BW Wellbeingworld on the topic of International Yoga day, she urged everyone to take care of themselves by practising daily.

She said, "Yoga is not just about physical fitness but also mental fitness, it is a medium to connect the micro with the macro and assists an individual’s unison with the Universe."

According to Anwesha, "Yoga focuses on multiple spheres - Mind, Body & Spirit."

It helps one find peace of mind as well.

"Yoga not only makes our body strong and flexible but helps in mental peace by reducing stress and improving concentration. This helps us focus on our main goals and not get distracted in the humdrum of our lives. It provides us with holistic fitness by improving our body internally," she stressed.

Personally, yoga asanas have helped her tackle polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) symptoms to a great extent. Controlling her mood swings and also normalised her menstrual cycle.

She said that "With the current lifestyle today, we are so engrossed with a hectic schedule, have stresses in professional and personal lives, deal with pollution, eat packaged fast food, and are constant hustling with a lack of time which has led to rapid growth in lifestyle-induced diseases. It is extremely crucial to maintain our health and fitness. It will ensure that our body is strong enough to combat daily hurdles and the mind is ready to focus on achieving our goals. Mind, body and soul should be in union always."

Anwesha's Daily Routine

I religiously follow these few tips in my daily life to maintain fitness - Waking up to a bottle of water, meditate for five minutes, do my daily physical exercise/workout for an hour, focus on positive affirmations, practice water therapy, stick to a simple staple diet, eat dinner early so that I keep at least two and a half hours gap between dinner and bedtime.
